Purpose of job

Our aim is to become a market leader in the provision of Electric Vehicle charging solutions to Local Authorities and Businesses as part of our strategy to lead the transition to zero carbon.

The goal is to undertake an ambitious electric vehicle charging installation program, deploying high volume and quality EV installations across the nation. Our aim is to make the world a better place, one charge point at a time.

The Junior Planner will work between Zest’s land and operations departments and will play a crucial role in the development and enhancement of our new sites across our charging ecosystem, contributing to the creation of sustainable and well-designed environments. Your responsibilities will involve supporting with assessing, designing, and planning our new sites, considering factors such as land use, infrastructure, and community needs.

Key Accountabilities

The role is responsible for the following:

Assist the Lead Planner with site appraisals to advise on the likelihood and best strategy to achieve planning consent.

Preparation of supporting planning documents; planning statements, design and access statements etc.

Assist in producing site assessments, detailed examination of planning histories, policy analysis, interpretation and consideration of material considerations, and new site appraisals for our portfolio of sites.

Liaise and brief internal layout designers, external consultants and officers at local planning authorities prior, during and post submission.

Collaborating with different departments within Zest colleagues to deliver multi-disciplinary advice, liaising with our

client/landowners/land

agents and statutory bodies throughout the planning process.

To identify and make representations on our behalf in the review of local development frameworks as part of our planning application processes.

Meeting planning requirements, submission requirements and deadlines on multiple sites at any given time.

Key Relationships:

Internal

– Lead Planner, CEO, Chief Development Officer, Operations Director, Finance Director.

External

– Client landowners, Local authorities, local government agencies as required, external contractors as required.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience working on planning applications.

Experience in providing planning support.

Strong administration skills.

Understanding of the methods for working with internal and external stakeholders.

Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.

Proven ability to work to deadlines and budgets.

Ability to travel to sites/meetings independently and/or with clients and team members.

Ability to adapt to change and to work accurately and efficiently under pressure

Experience / Qualifications:

Previous experience working in the private or public sector in the field of development management / planning policy (Desirable)

Planning Degree / Masters with RTPI accreditation and a rounded knowledge of town planning (Desirable)
