About the role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Desktop Support Technician to join our IT team at Xtrac. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to kick-start their career in IT support and gain valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Day to day

  • Provide first-line technical support to end-users for desktop hardware, software, and peripherals, including troubleshooting and resolving basic hardware and software issues.
  • Assist with the setup and configuration of desktop computers, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment, ensuring they are functioning correctly and securely.
  • Respond to IT support tickets and service requests in a timely and professional manner, escalating complex issues to senior IT staff as needed.
  • Provide basic training and support to end-users on IT systems, applications, and best practices to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of IT assets, inventory, and support activities using IT service management tools.
  • Assist with IT projects and initiatives as needed, including hardware deployments, software installations, and IT infrastructure improvements.

About you

  • Some experience in a technical support role or relevant experience is preferred, but not essential.
  • Basic knowledge of desktop operating systems and common desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Office)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a passion for learning and a proactive approach to troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with end-users of varying technical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing IT environments.
  • A commitment to providing exceptional customer service and support to end-users.
