About us

Urban Jungle is here to change the insurance industry for good.

We’re one of the fastest-growing businesses in the UK, and we’re taking on one of the biggest and most widely used categories in the world. Urban Jungle puts the customer at the heart of everything it does, uses the latest technology to make insurance simple, fair and affordable, and helps us give our customers much more confidence in their financial futures.

All of this has meant we’ve already been able to help more than 200,000 customers get better insurance and become one of the top-rated home insurance providers in the UK, rated Excellent on Trustpilot from over 9,000 reviews. We’ve raised over £30m in funding to date to help us with our mission.

We also have a huge focus on people and our planet. We’ve recently placed 1st in Tempo’s 2024 award for best startup to work for, and came top 10 in the Deloitte Fast50. We’re also proud to be a certified B-Corp, and a Carbon Neutral company.

And the best bit? This is just the beginning.

About the role

We’re looking for an Operations Associate to help us deliver a world-class experience for our customers.

Our operations team is the engine powering Urban Jungle, helping us grow efficiently so as many people as possible can benefit from our products. In Ops, we’re building a strong foundation that allows Urban Jungle to scale fast – we do that by tackling problems, generating ideas, and getting stuff done. We work closely with our customers and other teams across Urban Jungle to keep customer experience the ‘North Star’ of our decision making.

As an Operations Associate, you will be in a uniquely varied role within the business – talking directly to our customers, ensuring the day to day operations of Urban Jungle run smoothly, and working closely with other teams around the business.

We put the customer at the heart of everything we do, so we’ll look to you to continually champion customer feedback within the business. You’ll also help us build new operational functions and tackle exciting challenges – for example helping us build our own world-class claims operations.

Here’s what you’ll get up to:

  • Be part of the team that powers our business, making things happen for our customers and working on projects to make us more operationally efficient.

  • Work directly with our customers – answering their questions, troubleshooting and solving problems, and helping them navigate the complex world of insurance. You can expect to spend around half of your working time assisting customers via phone, chat and email.

  • Ensure our key operational processes are executed effectively and accurately, and use your first-hand experience to make those processes more efficient and scalable.

  • Identify opportunities to make us better at what we do, and shape those ideas by collaborating with our Ops, Product, Engineering, and Insurance teams.

  • Deliver initiatives to help improve and scale our operations function, working closely with senior members of Operations to shape and execute projects or functional goals.

  • Be the voice of the customer in cross-functional projects, for example, launching a new product.

You’ve read this far! Here’s what we’re looking for from you:

  • We are changing a huge financial industry – you are excited about being a part of this big challenge (even if you know nothing about Insurance right now!)

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to support our customers and collaborate with teams across the business.

  • You’re energised by problems of all shapes and sizes, and see them as an opportunity to make something better.

  • A high level of attention-to-detail, and you’re very organised. You’re comfortable multitasking to deadlines, and managing a varied to-do list.

  • You like to make things happen. You’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves to get stuff done!

  • You’re an idea generator, and love thinking about how something can be better.

  • You’re ambitious, and eager to progress quickly to grow alongside the company.

  • You apply yourself to everything you do, recognising the difference that makes to the business.

  • You treat everyone with integrity, respect and kindness – whether it’s your colleagues, our customers, or our partners.

  • You’ll be a champion of our values, and encourage others to be the same

  • Above all, you’ll care passionately about delivering an exceptional experience to our customers.

  • Real Impact. You’ll work on big, interesting problems that will challenge you, and do so in a way that has a positive impact on people’s lives, the planet and our community.

  • A Clear Plan. We’ll give you the clarity on what we want to achieve, with the freedom and autonomy for you to decide how we get there.

  • The Best People. You’ll be surrounded by teammates who are exceptional at what they do, whilst being kind, honest people who champion our values.
