As part of the wider University of Stirling, based within Scotlands International Environment Centre (SIEC), theNet Zero Business Support Intern (SIEC)will make a substantial contribution to the development, delivery, and promotion of the Net Zero for Business 2024/25 activities and services delivered through SIEC. This opportunity is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity fund leveraged by Stirling Council by providing highly effective and proactive activity support.

The role-holder will encourage and support businesses in Stirling to take part in the Net Zero support programme. Role requirements include butare notlimited to; visiting clients on site, calculating carbon footprints using an industry tool (training is provided , attending events and administering evidence for reporting, committed tobecominga net zero specialist. The individual will champion a can-do spirit and serve as ambassadors for SIEC across campuses and within the broader community.

Description of Duties

  • Support the Project Manager by planning and managing daily priorities and activities to support overall Net Zero workflow
  • Onsite client visits to collect primary data for analysis, for SMEs located in the Stirlingshire council area
  • Organise and facilitate virtual and in-person activities, such as workshops, events, webinars, competitions, etc. Setting up events (registration, room hire, refreshments), managing delegates and organising materials for use in workshops
  • Monitor and record participant engagement across the Programmes activities

Essential Criteria

  • A currently enrolled student or a graduate within 12-months of degree completion
  • Broad understanding of net zero policy and what business activities may contribute to a carbon footprint
  • Excellent understanding of, and commitment to, partnership working
  • Event experience related to planning and delivery
  • Confidence to speak publicly to a wide range of audiences
  • Communications: A sound understanding of, and experience utilising, media platforms for promotional purposes; particularly EventBrite, X, Facebook and LinkedIn
