Undergraduate Administrator [temporary Cover]

Type: Graduate
Region: Eastern

The Department of Geography is seeking an experienced administrator to co-ordinate its undergraduate course provision.

The role-holder is the first point of contact and administrative lead for all undergraduate matters in the Department. They provide proactive administrative support and guidance to the Director and Assistant Director of Undergraduate Studies and to the two Chairs of Examiners, and are the departmental point of contact for all undergraduate enquiries from central University offices, from other academic Departments and from the colleges regarding teaching, examining and student progression. Supported by the Teaching Administrator, they manage the full academic year cycle, from the production of course materials and the annual teaching timetable, through co-ordination of visiting teachers and the setting and submission of coursework, to exam marking, formal Exam Board meetings and production of final class lists.

This role requires a high level of autonomous working and the role-holder is responsible for identifying and prioritising his/her own work, determining how the duties should be performed and deciding when, and to whom, matters should be referred, including the delegation of appropriate tasks to the Teaching Administrator. As relevant academic leadership roles (Director/Assistant Director of Undergraduate Studies; Chairs of Examiners) are usually undertaken only for terms of three years at a time, the Undergraduate Administrator performs a critical role in inducting new Directors and Examiners and in ensuring continuity of delivery between appointments. They supervise the part of the Teaching Administrator’s time allocated to undergraduate business and work collaboratively with the Teaching Administrator and the Graduate Administrator to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of teaching and assessment across the Department.

Further information on the role responsibilities and person specification is available at the link below.

Fixed-term: The role is available due to a Secondment for Maternity Leave Cover, and the appointment is limited in tenure to 12 September 2025, or return of role holder, whichever is sooner.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment
