What will I be doing?

As an apprentice, your 18 month development programme will be made up of two placement rotations. Our aim is to equip you with the range of skills and experience that will give you a solid foundation for a successful career. We also understand that everyone’s career is different, so every apprentice’s journey is unique. Here’s an idea of what yours could look like:

Placement 1??

Recruitment Team

In this placement you will join our recruitment team responsible for the end-to-end recruitment cycle of circa 4000 permanent roles annually, for all Band 1 to 4 roles. This includes working on our High Volume campaigns for roles such as Customer Service Assistants and Train operators. You will be given the opportunity to work alongside experienced Recruiters, Hiring Managers and candidates managing your own campaigns while applying your knowledge of market trends and best attraction and selection strategies to find the right talent at the right time.

Early Careers Team?

You might take responsibility for the recruitment process for a couple of Graduate, Apprentice or Internship roles and be involved with design, assessment centre planning to how we market the role with a focus on improving our diversity and inclusion to represent the city we serve. Or you might be involved in selecting or onboarding our hires. You will also be involved in the shaping, planning and implementing of Early Career/Job Fairs that aim to promote our schemes and attract prospective candidates.?

?After completing Placement 1 and 2, there will potentially be an opportunity for a number of apprentices to shadow the Executive Recruitment team. This team creates a ‘uniquely TfL’ recruitment and on-boarding experience for senior level talent, which is extremely high touch and helps to position TfL as an employer of choice and the ‘best place to work’. You will shadow the Senior Executive Recruitment Consultants to build your confidence working with senior internal and external stakeholders and how you would adapt your communication style and ways of working when partnering with senior leaders.

You will get an insight into different research methods used to find and attract Executive level diverse talent, the importance of having a very high attention to detail as well as understand the difference in the planning and execution of these senior recruitment campaigns. TfL is striving to create a culture of diverse inclusive leaders and a workforce that represents the city of London and the recruitment teams are key in delivering this?

We also offer insight sessions that can help secure your knowledge of how recruitment sits beside our learning and development, onboarding, workforce planning and Human Resource steams.

In each role you will understand the importance of working alongside other teams and how we are performing relative to Key Performance Indicators and evaluating our campaigns.??

It will be possible to preference where to complete your 3rd and final placement of the scheme, subject to availability – Early Careers, Permanent Recruitment or Executive Recruitment.
