Job overview

The Elizabeth Line Operations Team consists of Operations, Infrastructure Maintenance, Safety, Business Performance and Concessions. This team work closely with TfL’s partners including Network Rail, wider TfL, Alstom, MTR, Siemens and the British Transport Police. Their Operations team are critical in ensuring the success of the line on a daily basis, this team also includes Network Performance and future strategy, Projects, Timetabling, Assurance and Training functions. This brand-new graduate scheme will provide opportunities over a 2-year period across all off the Elizabeth Line Operations Team, providing you with exposure to many different and useful areas.

What will I be doing?

As a graduate your, up to 2-year development programme will be made up of up of a number of placement rotations. The aim is to equip you with the range of skills and experience you need for your successful career. Placements will last typically for between 6 and 12 months.

You will initially start with a corporate induction to TfL and the Elizabeth Line, followed by some more bespoke training and familiarisation with the Operations area of the business. Once completed you will then move into completing a number of placement opportunities across departments.

TfL also understand that everyone’s career is different, so every graduate’s journey is unique. Here’s an idea of what an Operations focused placement plan could involve:

Placement 1 – Network Operations – this is the Core of the operation that delivers the signalling, control and incident response for the Central Operating Section.

Placement 2 – Specialist Operations – this area oversees all operational projects that interface with the Elizabeth Line as well as leading our stakeholder management activities.

Placement 3 – Network Assurance – this area includes competence and assurance, ensuring both our people and our processes are fit and proper for our operation.

Placement 4 – Network Performance and Strategy – this area includes overseeing performance related activities for the Elizabeth Line, timetabling, future strategy and delay attribution.

You will also be offered a variety of training courses to support your development and opportunities to spend time with other parts of both the Elizabeth Line and wider TfL business where applicable.
