The Controls Technology Intern will work with the Controls Technology Platform Department within the HVDC unit of GE Vernova to ensure that the business can deliver and change to meet the demands of the grid and renewable energy market. Role overview

Based at the HVDC Centre of Excellence in Stafford, UK, the role gives an excellent opportunity for a motivated candidate to innovate, expand their technical skills and develop personally within an internationally recognized company in the renewables and grid sectors. The successful candidate will be part of a cohort of interns working within a 12-month development plan that allows them to stretch outside of their core academic background that prepares them for successful careers.

Responsibilities:

Controls design, development, and simulation, working with any control and protection system; in particular, power electronics systems and grid technology.

Analysis, design, simulation, test, and integration to define and support assigned components, modules or systems that meet business standards for New Product Introduction (NPI) or New Technology Introduction (NTI)

Produce technical documentation such as requirements, design, and test specifications

Prepare and present, technical information for Substation Control Systems to internal and external customers.

Assist with laboratory activities for the installation and testing of the control system.

The Person:

The successful candidate will ideally have completed 2 years of degree level study in a related field such as Software Engineering or equivalent experience and be predicted to obtain at least a 2:1 at Bachelors level or equivalent knowledge or experience.
