Graduate Safety Engineer 2024

Type: Graduate
Region: South East

As a Land Equipment Safety Engineering graduate in QinetiQ you will have the opportunity to join our highly skilled team of Land Equipment Safety Engineers. You will be able to contribute in supporting the work we do to ensure that any vehicle, platform, equipment, or product is safe to operate and that the user knows how to operate it safely. This is concerned with in depth analysis of how the product is designed to operate, looking at what the potential hazards are, analysing risks and defining mitigations to reduce the risk of harm and damage. We work on a wide range of UK Land vehicles and equipment and in this role you are likely to support delivery of safety engineering to the delivery of the Ajax Armoured Fighting Vehicle and the upgrade of the Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS).

The primary output for this role will be system safety expertise and knowledge to deliver reports and advice in support of projects to our clients. Customer reports will cover a range of support, from advice on the procurement of new equipment, assessment of In-service equipment or upgrades to equipment on QinetiQ managed ranges. Applicants will have the ability to influence customers and improve safety outcomes.

Our people make the critical difference to customers by providing unique approaches to problem solving.

What will I be doing?

As a Land Equipment Safety Engineer graduate you will be expected to learn how we operate and gain systems knowledge to best place you in a Safety Engineer role.

You will specialise in the Land domain and gain specific knowledge on tools and techniques that will facilitate the final output of the project. Working with others more experienced in the team, we will give you the opportunity to experience different types of vehicles, platforms and equipment as you move from project to project. This will enable you to gain experience across the military array of weapon platforms and help us understand where your interests may lay as a specialist engineer.
