Graduates required – St Helens

Are you a recent graduate who is considering a career in teaching or education? We are currently working with secondary schools in St Helens to join them as soon as possible to support their needs. The work is extremely flexible offering day to day, short term or long-term positions as a cover supervisor or teaching assistant position. These are excellent roles to challenge your facilitation, classroom management, and gain knowledge of how a school generally runs. It supports any growth within a career in the educational system offering support and empathy to students within an important role. Some support roles will require assistance with SEN or behavioural needs.

This role will be challenging at times but will also be extremely rewarding.

Within this environment you will be tasked with the following roles and responsibilities:

Provide opportunities to progress academically, socially and emotionally

  • Leading by example as a role model
  • Leading activity sessions during the day and extracurricular if relevant to degree
  • Have an understanding of individuals personalities and needs
  • Offer guidance and mentoring
  • Have an understanding/interest in school curriculum
  • Use of behavioural system
  • Confidently deliver pre-planned lessons and lead interventions
  • Provide a safe environment to learn
  • Deal with any challenging or disruptive behaviour
  • Offer advice and support
  • Develop self-confidence, positive self-image and independence
  • Assist teachers with class support of 1:1
  • Fully compliant in safeguarding policies and procedures

Requirements for this role include:

  • Experience working with children in any professional setting
  • Hold the Right to Work in the UK.
  • Possess an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with online update service or be willing to process a new application.
  • Provide two professional child related references.
