Applicants who do not meet the essential criteria will be considered under the Annex 21training programme, where whilst undergoing training, they will be paid a 70% of the top of Band6and on completion of training will then move on to Band 6scale.

The Role

The successful candidate will be registered nurse with valid NMC Registrationbe responsible and accountable for the delivery of an accessible, appropriate, high quality and effective nursing service to all age groups in the community by working in partnership with patients, care providers and other agencies.

The successful candidate will ensurea person centered approach to care delivery which is safe and effective to ensure and maintain quality strategy.

The successful candidate will function as an independent autonomous practitioner by virtue of in-depth knowledge, expertise, proficiency and experience to lead and enable the Community nursing team to provide a quality nursing service.

What we’ll need you to bring

  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
  • SPQ District Nursing/Nursing in the Home or equivalent Post Graduate Study
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
  • Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.
  • Leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery.
  • Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification including clinical assessment and non-medical prescribing
  • The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
  • Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective time management skills
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology
  • Must be a Car Driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence

It would be great if you also have

  • Evidence of ongoing personal/professional development appropriate to area of practice

  • Extensive post registration experience

  • Demonstrate experience of contributing to inter agency work

  • Demonstrate of ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

NHS Lanarkshire will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer. If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety – you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Lanarkshire is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so.
