Our Engineering Team support the maintenance and operation of industry leading Steam and Gas Turbines, Generators and associated equipment. The Graduate Application Engineer will identify cost effective reliability enhancements, upgrades and conduct performance evaluations of proposed design/upgrade solutions to support the operation and maintenance and performance of our Customer’s equipment.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Work closely with other Engineering Teams in developing computational models/analysis for gas turbine/steam turbine component design, performance and reliability upgrade proposals.
  • Support the development and improvement of turbine performance assessment tools and processes to support cost-saving initiatives
  • Work with the wider business to support both proposals for prospective and existing customers.
  • Evaluate the impact of product and performance upgrade solutions over existing performances.
  • Support configuration management activities by maintaining record of all the installed configurations, previous modifications and upgrades by following known best practices in company approved databases.
  • Support Project management, Customer Support and Commercial Teams to maintain optimum inventory of used parts
  • Provide and develop technical capability to support feasibility studies for performance enhancement solutions
  • Evaluate and maintain the competitive landscape of product and performance enhancement solutions available in the market.

Skills and experience

  • An Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Thermal Power and Fluids, Mechanical Engineering or other closely related field.
  • An understanding in the simulation and design of different types of gas turbines for aerospace, marine or industrial applications
  • You will ideally have knowledge of thermodynamics and performance calculation. In addition, you will have a demonstrable understanding of the performance calculations of GT, GTCC and Steam turbine powerplants.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability and able to communicate at all levels of the organisation.
  • Proficient technical report writing and communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, simulation software
