Mitie are committed to decarbonisation with their Plan Zero Agenda and their 2-year accelerated programme will allow you to fast track your career to become decarbonisation leaders of the future! You will have the opportunity to rotate across different business units, from G2 Energy or Rock Power to Custom Solar and Consulting – allowing you to upskill and immerse yourself in an expanding industry.

What is the opportunity?

This 2-year early career development programme will provide you with exposure to three key Disciplines within Mitie: Design, Engineering and Project Management. Within these disciplines, you will rotate across the following four business areas throughout the programme:

G2 Energy

G2 Energy specialise in the design and construction of Balance of Plant Infrastructure and grid connections for various projects across a number of sectors. These projects vary from small scale grid connections at 33kV to large infrastructure projects up to 400kV within renewable energy generations such as wind turbine farms, solar PV and battery storage (BESS) projects.

With ambitious UK’s government target of achieving net zero, utilising renewable energy and energy storage, this is a fantastic opportunity for graduate electrical and civil engineers to gain exposure to major grid connections through small- and large-scale projects within the renewable energy sector. You will play a fundamental role in assisting and providing technical input on a variety of studies for distribution and transmission networks, renewable energy and grid integration.

Custom Solar

Custom Solar are at the cutting edge of the renewable industry, developing and installing projects for the most recognisable brands, authorities and government departments. They installed the UK’s largest roof-top solar installation at the Port of Hull in 2020 and are currently developing the largest solar carpark canopy at Lakeside North Harbour in Portsmouth.

This is a fantastic opportunity for graduate engineers to get immediate exposure to some of the UK’s largest solar projects from conceptual stage to final delivery. You will also have exposure to various other functions including commercial, finance and construction, enabling you to upskill into an expanding industry.

Rock Power

Rock Power specialise in the design and build of new and upgraded electrical infrastructure solutions for business, industry, commercial properties and EV charging.  They also offer a full-range of electrical engineering services directly to Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs) and their major subcontractors on sites up to 132kV.

This role will be responsible for the development of design drawings to support all stages of electrical connection projects, including initial layouts, tendering, construction drawings and as-laids.  This is a great opportunity for a candidate with CAD skills and entry-level electrical knowledge looking to progress through a career in High Voltage electrical design for new connections. Alternatively, this could be a field-based technician looking to transition into a new career.

JCA

With over 20 years of experience, JCA follows a pragmatic, holistic approach to the built environment life cycle – from assessment, planning and design, to construction and maintenance. Their end-to-end approach to project delivery, combined with longstanding industry relationships across commercial, data centres, education, government, healthcare, science and tech, enhances the capabilities we bring to your project.

Within JCA, there are a series of learning modules where you will gain an insight into JCA projects, from an overview of the precontracts team, to the Contract Handover Procedures and Commercial controls including financial management, risk management and resourcing control.
