About the role

Exciting opportunities for individuals who are passionate about playing a part in tackling the climate and biodiversity emergency, to join our Sustainability group as Graduate Sustainability Consultants.

The roles will be based in either London, Cambridge, Edinburgh, or the Bristol office and will require collaborating with team-members across all our five offices, as well as with our building services engineers. We are a purpose led practice, owned by the people who work here, committed to sustainable outcomes and working on projects with some of the highest aspirations across multiple sectors from conception through to completion.

Our Sustainability consultants help our clients develop their sustainability brief for buildings and masterplans. They then champion this within the whole project team. Our Sustainability group acts as a hub for knowledge and expertise, working together with all engineers and consultants across the practice.

Our Sustainability group leads on:

  • Sustainability strategies and assessment,
  • Building performance,
  • Energy benchmarking and Net Zero Carbon advice
  • Embodied carbon modelling and advice
  • Circular economy advice
  • Wellbeing services

The Graduate Sustainability Consultant role involves learning key environmental and wellbeing assessment schemes and standards, as well as using analytical, communication and technical skills. Graduate Sustainability Consultants would be in a client-facing role from the start and need to be comfortable managing complex processes and exploring innovative approaches. They will need to be ready to challenge project briefs and methodologies where designs could lead to inappropriate or unsustainable outcomes, and to contribute to practice knowledge sharing to enhance the understanding of sustainability issues.

The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on every aspect of consultancy that our group offers, being able to specialise as experiencer grows. The Graduate Sustainability Consultants will also support the internal sustainability processes across the practice, as well as supporting our building services engineers to deliver more sustainable outcomes on their projects.

We support our Graduate Consultants to work towards chartership as a Chartered Environmentalist or Chartered Engineer within 4 years of joining the practice and offer the opportunity for career development within an award-winning industry leading practice.

About you

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic graduate who is a fast learner and who enjoys the challenge of new experiences. Someone who is keen to provide sustainability focused advice for our clients and is interested in a range of issues that cut across sustainability and climate change within the built environment.

You should ideally have a degree in engineering, architecture or physical science but could also have a different technical or relevant social science background (minimum 2:1 or equivalent).

You will have an analytical mind, have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, complemented by great organisational skills and a flexible approach to work across a very broad range of projects with different approaches. You will enjoy developing lasting relationships with clients and collaborators and be passionate about the build environment.
