Reporting into: General Manager – Indirect Report: Product Engineer

Role Overview:

* This is graduate entry position leading to Product Engineer role within 2 years with longer term prospects for advancement within the company.

* The Graduate Engineer needs to show above average commitment to what Magog Industries believes in: Exceeding customer’s expectations and taking our depth of process knowledge, manufacturing expertise and engineering excellence to the next level.

* The role will involve working alongside experienced engineering and production staff to support the company’s technical and ongoing product development objectives.

* Producing engineering drawings to instruction within 2D CAD or 3D (SolidWorks) drafting environment.

* Mathematical and trigonometry calculations.

* Building an in-depth knowledge and understanding of polymer processing applications to become a recognized expert within the organization and beyond.

* Any tasks reasonably requested which are within the employee’s capability and competency.

Responsibilities:

* Produce fully detailed manufacturing drawings and liaise with sub supplier for drawing approvals.

* Review orders received and complete the work sheet giving clear directions to the workshop for scope of work to be carried out.

* Work closely with General Manager, sales personnel and product engineers to provide technical solutions for design and manufacture of new processing components.

* Will be required to visit customers both in the UK and overseas to discuss and review engineering and design issues.

* Carry out in-house and on-site measuring for extrusion screws and barrels using appropriate engineering measurement tools, micrometers, vernier calipers, electronic bore measurement devices as examples.

* Where manufacturing or supplier deviation reports are raised for components being supplied – establishing appropriate corrective action and agreeing with works manager and inspector.

Ideal Qualifications and Skills:

* BSc or equivalent qualification / experience in a mechanical engineering discipline.

* Knowledge and understanding of engineering component manufacturing.

* Demonstratable ability of producing accurate detailed mechanical engineering drawings.

Candidate Profile:

* A thirst for knowledge and continuous learning about screws, barrels and coatings, their design, processes and manufacturing is required to maintain Magog Industries’ leading position in technology.

* Interest to investigate new technologies for suitability to enhance screw and barrel specifications.

* Ability and willingness to learn new systems and engineering procedures.

* Must be IT literate and be familiar with 2D and 3D Drafting software.

* Good communication and relationship building skills.

* Be able to work within tight schedules and manage several tasks at the same time.

* A driving license to travel within the UK as and when required.
