Unlock your passions @ Abington Park Vets

We are a gold standard practice located in Northampton. Northampton is close to London and Birmingham (less than an hour on the train) cost of living is cheaper than other areas. Close to Rushden lakes shopping centre for designer wares. Northamptonshire may not have mountains or the sea but has an abundance of rolling countryside, riverside walks and chocolate box houses in this area.

We are a large team with 13 full time Vets and we are used to taking on numerous new graduates, with a very good new graduate program. Each new graduate will have a senior Vet assigned to them to help them with their decision making, surgical skills and as pastoral support. Time is set every week to go over challenges faced. We have certificate holders within the team in Cardiology, Feline Medicine, Endoscopy, Endosurgery, Dentistry and Surgery.

We have amazing facilities and equipment which include an onsite CT scanner, visiting MRI scanner, digital x-rays, advanced ultrasound including echocardiology, endoscopy, laparoscopic equipment, vivarium and harmonic sheers. We have a large caseload for high end procedures such as TPLO, total hip replacements, PRP injections, endoscopic surgery, chemotherapy and hospitalising exotics.

Step into a supportive start

Your normal hours of work are 40 hours per week, 5 days a week. Due to the particular needs of the business we need to operate a rota system, therefore there are no normal times of work applicable to you and your daily hours, start and finish times will vary from time to time on a rota system. The rota operates Monday to Friday inclusive. In addition, you may also be required to participate in a weekend rota.

Being a large hospital and busy first opinion practice we have a lot of interesting cases to see but you will have a lot of support to ensure you are confident and comfortable in treating a wide range of cases right from the beginning. With four dedicated new graduate advisors at the practice, you will be supported in your clinical decisions. You will have your own in patients and surgical days from the beginning with whatever support is needed. Rotating between both our sites will be needed to experience the wide variety of cases and hospitalised care. Once the new graduate program is completed Vets often go onto completing certificates in their chosen discipline. Shadowing our referral department will enable you to decide what part of Veterinary Medicine you wish to follow.
