Programme information

You will join as a trainee as part of theInvestment20/20 programme. While we cant guarantee a permanent position at the end of the 12 month contract, it is our intention to make an offer to extend a further year, but this is up to how well you perform.75% of Investment20/20 trainees are offered permanent positions.

Our traineeship will introduce you to investment management and you will gain industry knowledge, experience and develop relationships enabling you to progress your career and provide you with skills to secure a permanent role.We will support you in achieving a professional qualification if this is something you are interested in doing.As part of the Investment20/20 programme, you will have opportunities to meet and network with over 300 trainees across the industry and participate in socials and insight events.

Our trainee programme is a fixed term one-year contract. You will receive 24 days annual leave. You will be paid a salary of around 34,000. This role is based in London.

Programme Summary

This is a programme intended to give you a breadth of knowledge and experience within the business to enable you to make informed decisions about where you would like to develop your career.

Responsibilities include

The main purpose of the Investment Specialist Trainee is to support the other Emerging Markets (EM) Investment Specialist (IS) team members in producing presentation materials and in answering ad-hoc client requests. The role will focus on EM Fixed Income and to a lesser extent EM Equities.

The main responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • To produce and update standard strategy and capability presentation materials and ad-hoc client presentations (for portfolio reviews and/or investment proposals purposes). This includes implementing the relevant regulatory requirements, under the supervision of the Investment Specialist.
  • Regularly prepare and/or analyse portfolio historical data extracts / management comments /RFIs and RFPs/ support the Investment Specialist in answering queries, in response to queries from the sales team or London colleagues (IS team members, PMs).
  • Track management comments / performance attributions / dedicated reviews / bespoke reports to be produced by the IS team as well their respective deadlines to ensure the best possible quality of service.
  • Produce commentaries on markets and performance drivers for select strategies, as required.
  • Coordinate with the different stakeholders to ensure all required inputs are available to the IS team in a timely manner (peer analysis, MO reports, etc.)
  • Over time, to back-up the other team members on their respective fields of expertise for 1st level internal requests.
  • Coordinate various projects to increase efficiency in the team, taking a lead on managing these projects through to completion. Examples include, presentation/reporting automation, streamlining data reporting for key clients.

Requirements

If you are a graduate who has an interest in working within financial services and has the following attributes, we are interested in hearing from you:

  • Enthusiastic, inquisitive and interested in Investment Management
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) suite of applications
  • Good verbal and written communications skills; the job will require translation of data and analysis into written form, as well as presenting such analysis to internal and/or external teams
  • Proactive and at ease with assuming responsibilities
  • The role holder is expected to acquire more and more independence as they progress e.g. answering similar queries / facing similar technical and/or commercial situations
  • Some knowledge of Fixed Income ideal, but not necessarily required.
  • Detail oriented with good organisational and time management skills
  • Keen interest in investments, finance and economics.

  • At all times the role holder will adhere to FCA and SMCR rules as well as the Companys policies and procedures. Where appropriate, the role holder will seek guidance from Head of Compliance, Senior Management or HR.
