Department overview

The Corporate Sector Coverage team operates within the Sectors organisation at ING Wholesale Banking. UK CSC’s client base includes a range of FTSE100-250 corporates with primarily a European footprint across varying sectors. The team is responsible for originating, coordinating and executing integrated corporate banking services or investment banking propositions for its clients, working across ING’s international network and in close alignment with product partners. ING aims to differentiate itself via a combination of sector expertise, global network, and sustainability leadership.

Main duties and responsibilities of role

ING is looking for an Intern to support the CSC team in managing their client portfolio. The role will report to the Head of UK CSC. The ideal candidate has an undergraduate degree in a numerate discipline and an understanding of corporate business.

The candidate should be available to start asap, and the position is for a minimum of 6 months.

The role is designed to provide support to the team Head, the Relationship Manager and Assistant Relationship Managers (“ARM”) in managing the bank’s relationships with multinational corporate clients, as well as supporting the team with various administrative projects and tasks.

This is an ideal position for a candidate looking to work in a dynamic client coverage team, gain an understanding of international wholesale banking markets, corporate clients and banking products, and gain insights into how a global bank operates.

Key tasks

  • Support the team in ad-hoc regulatory, compliance and policy projects ensuring execution to deadline
  • Assist with the team’s KYC requirements, liaising with internal stakeholders and with clients as appropriate
  • Assist in maintaining data quality and tracking client relationship performance against plans
  • Support internal and external marketing activities as required
  • Prepare briefing packs ahead of client meetings
  • Assist with research and screening for new client opportunities
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders across international network on specific projects

Candidate profile

Qualification/education

  • Undergraduate degree, minimum 2:1 classification in a relevant subject (business understanding of corporate business or financial market products)
  • Fluent English language skills both written and oral
