Our client, an award-winning consumer products business, is in search of a dynamic and extremely organised Assistant / Junior Buyer to join their Buying team. The successful applicant will have experience in an assistant buyer, junior buyer or similar role working with consumer products, and have a genuine desire to develop a career within Buying.

As an Assistant / Junior Buyer you will play a crucial role within the buying team managing the critical path, working closely with their global supplier base, and ensuring accurate and timely production and of goods. Key responsibilities for this Assistant / Junior Buyer include:

  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Procurement to streamline operations within the buying department
  • Engage in daily correspondence with suppliers via email and other channels
  • Generate and process purchase orders, placing orders with suppliers across the UK, Europe, and the Far East
  • Efficiently manage a high volume of purchase orders for multiple customers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Verify and confirm Proforma invoices and order confirmations
  • Coordinate with Sales and Design teams to provide suppliers with necessary information for planned orders, facilitating smooth production and deliveries
  • Maintain and update departmental critical paths, proactively communicating any changes to relevant teams
  • Identify and communicate potential disruptions in procurement processes
  • Plan and coordinate deliveries from port to warehouse, ensuring timely arrivals
  • Monitor and track deliveries, overseeing goods through Customs clearance procedures
  • Maintain shipping and product trackers to ensure accurate and up-to-date information
  • Conduct thorough checks on artwork to ensure compliance with ingredient lists and safety data sheets
  • Effectively manage and organise product samples

Skills & experience required:

  • Strong and demonstratable experience with Buying or a related field
  • Passion and interest in Buying, coupled with a strong desire to cultivate a career in this industry
  • Proficient IT skills, especially Excel and other MS Office applications
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Exceptional written English and verbal communication skills
  • Natural problem-solving abilities and a quick learner
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in all tasks
  • Proactive, determined and an effective team player
