Head of Safeguarding & Wellbeing – 37 hours per week 8:30am – 5pm Monday to Thursday 8:30am – 4:30pm Friday. 52 weeks per year
–£44,130.70 (BRK41) per annum

Brooklands technical College invites you to apply for the pivotal role of Head of Safeguarding & Wellbeing, based at our Weybridge
campus.
About the role:
In this vital role, as Head of Safeguarding & Wellbeing, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the safety, happiness, and
academic success of our students. Your role will also include:
* Providing strategic leadership and direction for all aspects of safeguarding and wellbeing across both Brooklands technical
College campus, ensuring a whole-college approach to creating a safe and supportive environment.
* Leading and managing the Safeguarding and Wellbeing team, including the recruitment, induction, supervision, performance
management, and professional development of team members.
* Leading and managing the College Counsellor and trainee counsellors, including the recruitment, induction and professional
development
* Developing, implementing, and regularly reviewing the college’s safeguarding and child protection policies, procedures, and
protocols in line with statutory guidance and best practice.
* Acting as the lead point of contact for external safeguarding agencies, including local authorities, police, and health
services, and ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
To fulfil the role of Head of Safeguarding & Wellbeing you will have:
* Extensive and demonstrable experience working directly with young people in a senior safeguarding and wellbeing leadership role
within an educational setting.
* Proven expertise in acting as a Designated Deputy Safeguarding Lead, managing complex safeguarding cases, and making high-level
referrals to statutory agencies.
* A deep understanding of inter-agency working and a proven track record of building and maintaining effective partnerships with
local authorities, police, health services, and other relevant external agencies.
* Significant experience in leading, managing, and developing a multi-disciplinary safeguarding and wellbeing team, fostering a
culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and reflective practice.
* Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and empower a team to achieve outstanding outcomes.
* A comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of all relevant statutory legislation, guidance, and best practices related to
safeguarding, child protection, and wellbeing in the Further Education sector.
* The ability to strategically develop, implement, and review robust safeguarding policies, procedures, and protocols that are
compliant with statutory requirements and best practice.
* Proven experience in designing and delivering high-quality safeguarding training and development programmes for all levels of
staff.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students,
staff, parents/carers, and external agencies.
* Experience in managing budgets and resources effectively to ensure the efficient and impactful delivery of safeguarding
services.
* A proactive and solution-focused approach to identifying and addressing safeguarding risks and challenges.
