Junior Garment Technologist

Hawes and Curtis are looking for a Junior Garment Technologist to join our current product development team. You will be reporting to our Technical lead and liaising closely with cross functional teams within the business.

We are looking for someone with previous experience working across Menswear, Womenswear and Accessories, some knowledge of men’s footwear and leather would also be advantageous.

The ideal candidate should have a thorough understanding of the garment fitting process and ensure products are aligned with the relevant Tech Pack. Communication and strong organizational skills are a must, as you will be liaising with various teams within the business as well as suppliers and factories.

You must have a comprehensive understanding of garment construction, be able to use their initiative to elevate the quality and fit of products, excellent attention to detail and support the Technical lead.

Responsibilities:

Assisting with quality checks and measuring of samples against the Tech Pack upon receipt from suppliers. Check samples against the CAD to sense check styling and labelling.

Assisting with the arrangement and management of fit sessions across menswear and womenswear.

Update Tech Packs in accordance with comments made during the fit session, liaise with the relevant teams to establish next steps. Ensure accurate comments are communicated to suppliers to ensure the next sample is as expected.

Collaborate with our Production Assistant to chase outstanding samples from suppliers to ensure they arrive and are fitted in accordance with the critical path.

Conduct random quality control checks at our warehouse.

Review our product returns data across men’s and women’s products when the return levels are higher than normal.

Work closely with the Technical Lead and Customer service team to establish root cause to help drive improvements.

Work with the Technical Lead and the wider team on projects involving sizing and block reviews across all categories.

Review and assess garment and fabric test reports.

Desired Skills

1 – 2years in a similar role, some knowledge of Tailoring would be desirable.

Experience in updating and managing Tech Packs

A thorough understanding of grading and grade rules

Knowledge of garment fitting and fitting issues is essential.

Experience of working directly with supplier’s and factories, plus understanding the manufacturing process.

A total understanding of garment construction, fabric and garment testing.

Commercially minded.

Strong time management skills, able to prioritize tasks.

Confident using Microsoft Office including Teams
