The Role:

Our client is looking for an enthusiastic and committed Graduate R&D Laboratory Research Engineer to join their growing R&D team.

This role is based in Redditch, where you will provide laboratory test and support facilities to improve understanding of products and their lifecycle. You will test the physical properties of fibre-based packaging to ensure top-quality results for customers.

Ideal for someone who can work independently with minimal guidance while following detailed test protocols, this position involves routine testing and analysis, as well as opportunities to develop test methodologies and product technologies, supporting the Group R&D and Innovation teams.

About you:

As the successful candidate, you will fully understand and follow test protocols, continually seeking improvements to aid in process and product development. You will maintain high professionalism and confidentiality, handling commercially and technically sensitive information. You will demonstrate excellent reporting skills, using tools like Microsoft Office to report accurate data and record relevant information. You will keep up-to-date records of tests requested, in progress, and reported to measure against KPIs. Additionally, you will ensure the laboratory and its equipment are maintained to the correct standards.

Requirements:

Possesses a BSc degree in a scientific field, preferably Technical/Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry.

Ideal for candidates with laboratory experience, though full training will be provided to the successful applicant.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Demonstrates a blend of practical and theoretical skills.

Exhibits a high degree of numeracy essential for laboratory operations and testing.

Experience in the Paper/Packaging Industry is a plus, but relevant experience in a test/quality role within a large manufacturing setting is also acceptable.

Must have professional-level English speaking and writing skills.
