Graduate Underwriting Assistant

Our client is a leading insurance provider focused on the real estate, property and property finance sectors.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a forward thinking graduate with a vested interest in insurance and underwriting to gain valuable training and Industry experience  working as a trainee underwriter. This role will see the you play an active role from day one, whilst undertaking training and receiving guidance to progress into a full underwriting position.

Initially working under the direction of a more senior underwriter you will assist with residential and commercial cases allowing you to increase your knowledge of both underwriting and technical processes.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the daily underwriting and processing of residential and commercial risks
  • Review and summarise files gathering information on cases for referral to more senior underwriters
  • Ensure policy wording is correct and demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of policy coverage to be able to liaise with external clients
  • Understand external and internal client needs and work with the team to meet these needs
  • Achieve and maintain technical competence in accordance with company standards
  • Undertake legal research, projects and other duties as assigned by line manager
  • Continually develop industry and market place knowledge

 

In order to apply candidates must:

  • Have achieved a 2.1 in their undergraduate degree
  • Have excellent levels of written and oral communication skills and be able to converse in English to a fluent standard
  • Have strong organisational and planning skills
  • Have an analytical nature
  • Be a strong team player who is willing to support others
  • Be able to prioritise and juggle multiple assignments at once
  • Be able to demonstrate an interest and knowledge of insurance and underwriting
