Background:

Flow-5 provide consultancy services specialised in the management and monitoring of groundwater resources and groundwater supplies. We generally work on projects in the UK, with some international work from time to time.

We are working to develop new systems and services to improve the way water supplies and resources are managed and monitored. This graduate role advertised here would be key to the development and implementation of these new systems and services.

Overview of the role:

Graduate Environmental / Data Scientist

Best suited for a new graduate up to 2 years’ experience.

Suitable for someone with a background and keen interest in environmental science, monitoring and data.

£25,000 per year salary, full time.

Based in our Glasgow office; hybrid or alternative working arrangements could be considered.

Ability and willingness to travel UK wide for field work, noting we often work in the Scottish Highlands.

Responsibilities:

General field work: travel to sites across the UK to complete data collection. installation of monitoring equipment and other associated tasks.

General office work: data compilation, processing and analysis.

General office work: Prepare reports and documentation for submission to clients, regulatory bodies etc.

Specific: contribute to the development and testing of new monitoring systems and services (hardware and software).

Specific: assist with the pilot testing of new monitoring systems in the field.

Desirable Qualities:

Personable, easy to work with and happy to work within a small team.

Effective communicator.

Ability work independently when required.

Interest to learn about and become a specialist in environmental monitoring systems.

Knowledge and experience of databases and data management is desirable.

Knowledge and experience of GIS software is desirable.

Knowledge and understanding of hydrogeology and groundwater supply would be beneficial.

Other Requirements:

Right to work/live in the UK.

BSc in an environmental / science related discipline.

Full driving licence.

Willing to travel and stay away from home for multiple days at a time when required.

Based in our Glasgow office; hybrid or alternative working arrangements could be considered.
