At the start of your analyst experience, you’ll spend seven weeks in intensive training covering product and business knowledge as well as essential skills you’ll need for a successful start.
After training, you’ll join a sector group within our team. Under the direction of a senior analyst, you’ll contribute ideas and insights to investment theses and reports.
As you develop your skill set, you’ll have the opportunity to present those ideas to clients as well as colleagues in Sales and Trading. You may also:
- Analyse industry macro trends and company financials
- Gather synthesise and interpret data from publications and other sources
- Write both company-specific analysis and general thematic pieces
- Build and maintain financial models and industry databases
- Develop and deliver marketing materials for clients
1-2 year targeted, fast-track programme focused on developing specialist technical expertise.

Who we’re looking for
To be considered for this programme, you must be motivated and curious with a degree or expected degree in any area.
Ideally, you’ll have a passion for financial modeling,analysis, and numerical prowess and a keen interest in recognising current trends, while envisioning tomorrow’s emerging trends.
This role is regulated by the FCA.
Barclays will accept applications from candidates who require visa sponsorship to work in the UK.

Purpose of the role
To participate in the day-to-day activities of the research division providing insights and expertise to help senior colleagues make informed decisions, develop new products and services, and identify new market opportunities.
Accountabilities
Execution of research projects, conducting financial, statistical and industry analysis on companies and the industry to support the team’s investment thesis communicate research findings, collaboration with senior management to implement research findings for the research division.
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives.
- Participation in training and development programmes to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Research of sector trends that may impact company/sector recommendations for the research division.
- Management of writing daily, weekly, or monthly short notes or lengthy reports on economies, markets and/or industries.
- Management of assembling historical financial models using public filings, company conference calls, and press releases in support decision making in the research division.
- Training and mentoring of junior colleagues.

- Take responsibility for embedding new policies/ procedures adopted due to risk mitigation.
- Advise and influence decision making within own area of expertise.
- Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work you own or contribute to. Deliver your work and areas of responsibility in line with relevant rules, regulation and codes of conduct.
- Maintain and continually build an understanding of how own sub-function integrates with function, alongside knowledge of the organisations products, services and processes within the function.
- Demonstrate understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function.
- Make evaluative judgements based on the analysis of factual information, paying attention to detail.
- Resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of acquired technical experience and will be guided by precedents.
- Guide and persuade team members and communicate complex / sensitive information.
- Act as contact point for stakeholders outside of the immediate function, while building a network of contacts outside team and external to the organisation.
