What you will do in your working day

You will spend 3 days in practice and 1 day in college every week.

You will have Fridays off to complete any coursework from college

You will be taught how to assist a dentist and hygienist in all apsects of their work. This will include looking after the patient, taking accurate notes, assisting the clinician with placement of simple or complex restorations, dentures, root canal treatment and surgery.

You will be taught how to carry out thorough decontamination of the surgery and all instruments used.

You will learn basic reception skills and how to use a dental software package.

You will be taught how to develop digital x rays

The training you will be getting

You will be working for a Level 3 Dental Nursing Qualification.

You will work in practice in Lyndhurst, Hampshire, 3 days a week and 1 day a week at Eastleigh College, Hampshire

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

2 Years training to become a qualified dental nurse.

Continued professional development is a required part of working as a dental nurse and mainaining your registration with the General Dental Council.

The opportunity to complete additional training in subjects such as radiography, impression taking, oral health education, implantology/orthodontic nursing etc.
