Job Description

Our office in Bellshill provides excellent working conditions for our employees. Initially you will learn skills to design formwork to assist the construction of foundations, walls, columns and floor slabs. We will provide a range of training and there are opportunities to develop your career into senior roles where you may have involvement in major projects in various construction sectors, i.e. bridge construction. We are currently supplying services for a range of Scottish projects including the new River Tay link road crossing, South Clyde energy centre and Kincardine Bridge replacement.

Main duties and other tasks:

As a Civil Engineering Apprentice, Doka will support your educational development within your journey in Civil Engineering.

The primary role of the engineering team is to develop design solutions in accordance with a customers design brief. This will involve producing design drawings, supporting calculations and quantification of equipment. You will be supported by a design team leader and your work will be checked by a suitably experienced member of the design team. Your designs will represent the most efficient and safe use of Doka equipment for the site team. You will learn to provide technical assistance to the customer from the preliminary stage of a project to its completion, in collaboration with the sales and operations personnel.

Working with AutoCAD (& in future BIM/Revit software) to produce concept designs, approval general arrangement drawings and fully developed working drawings.

Provides material lists for quotations and shipments to the site.

Develop solutions for a wide range of construction applications

Produce calculations to verify the developed schemes, providing formal calculation reports when required.

Utilizing inhouse developed software and assistance tools to maximize productivity

Support with administration of projects

Ensuring outputs meet the required standards.

Meeting agreed deadlines.

Working as a member of a team.

Working in an office environment, with opportunities to visit sites.

Other Responsibilities/Peripheral Functions:

Assist with department development initiatives

Develop your skills so that in future you can be considered for Key User functions.

Qualifications

Higher qualification in Maths or Physics – Grade C or above.

OR

Technological Higher subject (Grade C or above) with National 5 Maths.

OR

Successful completion of NQ engineering/construction

OR

equivalent qualifications and experience

OR

Successful completion of Foundation Apprenticeship in Engineering

Knowledge/Experience

Excellent communication skills including an excellent command of English (speaking, reading, writing).

Qualitative abilities including strong analytical skills, technical proficiency and effective problem solving skills.

Experienced in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Organized team player able to work in a deadline driven, fast-paced environment.

Experience with AutoCad and/or Revit/BIM drawing/modelling skills would be beneficial, but not essential. Appropriate training will be provided as required.
