We are a long standing, established, soft separates womenswear supplier, working with a range of online retailers.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a junior designer to join our small NW1 London based team to support the designers with design development & admin. This role would suit someone who is looking for their next step after a first entry level position.

We are looking for someone with a commercial eye, who is able to work within a small team & is eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.

 

Duties include:

-      Creating technical design specs / tech packs to send to our overseas sample room for initial development sampling.

-      Fitting development samples with the rest of the design team & sending fit comments to our overseas sample room

-      CADS / presentation boards

-      Working with the design team researching current & future trends through various sources to identify newness for quick reaction.

-      Reacting to sales information & key trends to create commercially relevant designs & update bestsellers for our customer base across woven, jersey & cut & sew fabrications.

-      Sourcing fabric & trims from overseas

-      Trim / fabric organisation, pricing & archiving – keeping seasonal information organised & updated

What we are looking for in a candidate:

-      Must have a minimum of 1 years’ relevant experience as an assistant or junior designer at a supplier or a brand (not placement)

-      Proficient in Adobe photoshop/ Illustrator & Microsoft office

-      A good base understanding of garment construction & how to create a garment spec / tech pack for a factory sample room.

-      Strong hand drawing / CAD garment sketching skills to efficiently communicate ideas

-      Self-motivated with excellent planning & organisational skills

-      A commercial, feminine handwriting is essential with attention to detail

-      Strong presentation skills & confidence in presenting designs in meetings

-      Able to work well within a small team with the ability to problem solve & remain calm under pressure.

-      A basic print knowledge / awareness would be advantageous but not essential.
