Clinical Duties The successful candidate will be required to provide general radiological services, as to be expected within a small DGH and within these services there is scope for the development of most subspecialty interests. There is no vascular intervention at YDH. The Radiologist appointed will be expected to participate in regular audit. There are monthly Clinical Governance meetings within the department which include regular learning from discrepancy meetings. Interested candidates who will not have obtained their CCT by the required date for this post, are advised to contact the department to discuss future developments. The post is advertised as full time (10PAs) with one of the PAs for on call work. The on-call rota will be 1 in 12 with prospective cover. CT scans overnight are reported by an outsourcing company. Authorisation to use this service does not need to be obtained from the Yeovil Radiologist. We have arrangements for outsourcing currently after 8pm weekdays and 5pm at weekends. Candidates wishing to work part time will also be considered. The appointee will have use of an office, equipped with a PC with internet access and a High Resolution PACS reporting workstation. This includes voice dictation and voice recognition. A full home workstation will also be provided. Secretarial assistance is available in the department and is shared with other consultants. Except in emergencies or where otherwise agreed with your manager, you are responsible for fulfilling the duties and responsibilities and undertaking the Programmed Activities set out in your job plan, which will be reviewed periodically. You are responsible for the associated duties set out in of the Terms and Conditions. During the absence of colleagues on leave, consultants are expected to provide agreed levels of cover. Where you wish to seek agreement to have External Duties included in your job plan, you must notify your clinical manager in advance. Scheduling of such duties will be by agreement between you and your clinical manager. You may be required to travel between sites. Where emergency work takes place at regular and predictable times, your clinical manager will seek to schedule it as part of the Programmed Activities in your job plan schedule. Consultants are required to supervise the education of doctors in training, and doctors in post graduate roles. The post holder will be involved with teaching and training of doctors and should help with both their professional and personal development. Consultants must ensure that junior doctors in their care are not overwhelmed by clinical commitments or overburdened by responsibilities inappropriate to the experience required. Consultants are also responsible for the assessment and appraisal of trainees under their supervision and must keep the Clinical and/or College Tutor aware of problems that may arise.
