This post is idea for either an FY3 level doctor (or above) or a current trainee looking for an Out of Programme (OOPE) opportunity. The post is for 12 months, with the potential for an extension if mutually agreeable.
This is a post based in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at NUH and works closely alongside the NUH Undergraduate Medical Education Department (UMED). The post will offer a unique combination of teaching within the QMC and City Campus. It will involve taking a lead role in the organisation, development and delivery of clinical teaching and tutorials to medical students based at NUH, both within the clinical workplace and within in a teaching and clinical skills environment.
Teaching
The post holder will be responsible for the development and teaching to Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) Phase 1 Obstetrics and Gynaecology medical students as they rotate through their 6-week placement at NUH. They will also have input alongside other Clinical Teaching Fellows with the Year 1 & 2 Early Clinical Experience Course and support other assessments and patient workshops within NUH. When the Obstetrics and Gynaecology module is not running they will be involved in FFP Medicine & Surgery, AP2 Senior Surgery, Medicine and Critical Illness course.
It is expected that the successful candidate will use 8 sessions per week for direct teaching, with remaining sessions for:
· Associated co-ordination and administration of teaching.
· Development of teaching programmes.
· Professional development.

Responsibility for the following:
· Organisation of a programme of learning over the year.
· Producing medical student rota
· Weekly clinical teaching commitments including ward and clinic based teaching.
· Local induction of medical students at start of O&G placement.
· To provide teaching on the Early Clinical Experience Course
· Teach on the FFP Surgery, Medicine course and AP2 Senior Surgery, Medicine & Critical Illness course when O&G is not running.
· Facilitating tutorials on a weekly basis.
· Ensuring the module handbook is up to date.
· Organising and conducting formative assessments.
· Acting as examiner where necessary, and writing questions for online summative assessment and OSCEs.
· Attending regular regional module management meetings and chairing QMC based meetings.
· Development and running of the simulated on call and other simulation sessions in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, for medical students.
· Providing intensive coaching for re-sit students.
· Maintain key working relationships with NUH clinical staff, administrative staff, academic staff, clinical directors in O&G and the undergraduate coordinator at QMC/NCH.
· Supporting other patient workshops and assessments at NUH.
The post holder is also contracted to be actively involved in the teaching and assessment of medical students at other stages of the undergraduate course. This includes:
· Examining in undergraduate exams
· Tutoring pre-clinical undergraduates during hospital visits.
· Teaching and assessing practical skills in the clinical skills centre.
· Attending teaching fellow meetings
· Contributing to standard setting of summative assessments in other specialties and Exam mark moderation meetings.
· Involvement in patient workshops across the clinical course.
