Your role

We are seeking forward-thinking, innovative, and inquisitive graduates to join our Product and Systems Engineering Team as part of our 2024 Graduate Programme. Our Systems Engineering team is involved in some of the UK’s most exciting engineering projects, demanding the very highest level of engineering excellence. 

As a Graduate Systems Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a range of exciting projects in the Aerospace, Defence, Rail, Automotive, and Energy sectors. Our large portfolio of projects involve work across all stages of the system life-cycle, from concept definition to in-service support. We ensure engineering good practice across our clients, taking into account both established and emerging technologies and techniques, adopting latest tools and frameworks, supplemented by techniques such as mathematical simulation, digital visualization, model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and our own REVEAL® Requirements Engineering Framework to enhance their digital landscape.

We have a range of projects, from small scale consultancy roles, supporting the improvement of our client Systems & Safety practices, to large-scale, £multi-million in-house high integrity software systems development projects – and everything in between.

Capgemini Engineering provides a hybrid working environment with a mix of home and office working expected to provide a good balance between delivery for our customers and personal work. 

Successful applicants’ opportunities could include: 

  • Requirements elicitation and management within the Rail and Defence industry. 
  • Development of MBSE models for a variety of systems, from power plant infrastructure to aerospace industrial manufacturing systems. 
  • Working on high integrity software systems projects on cutting edge national infrastructure projects.
  • Safety and assurance of systems across a large scope of safety critical projects.
  • Consulting with clients to develop transformation initiatives for complex organisations involving people, processes and tools. 
  • Researching new tools and techniques.

Your profile

Candidates should have an enthusiasm for Systems Engineering and its application to solve difficult problems on behalf of our customers. They should have excellent communication skills, be comfortable working as part of a team and be able to professionally represent the Capgemini Engineering brand in front of clients. 

Essential

  • Systems Engineering-related degree or post-graduate.
  • Technical understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements management and system design process (including system and sub-system specification) and product validation and verification. 
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, multi-discipline environment to support client needs. 
  • Effective oral and written communication as well as influencing and stakeholder management skills. 

Desirable

  • Experience in using requirements management tools such as DOORS or DOORS NG. 
  • Experience of MBSE techniques, tools (such as Cameo System Modeler, Rhapsody or Capella) and frameworks (such as Magic Grid, Harmony, Arcadia, CESAM, OOSEM, SYSMOD or CORE). 
  • Experience in using Model Based Design tools such as Matlab and Simulink. 
  • Knowledge of Hazard identification, assessment and management techniques e.g. HAZOP, FMEA, FTA, Event Tree Analysis, Hazard Logs.

Note

These roles require BPSS and SC Security clearance. To meet the clearance requirements, you will need to;

  • Have the right to live and work in the UK.
  • For future planning and eligibility of roles and the nature of our project work some of our clients require our team to go through Security Clearance.  Depending on the security level, government eligibility states that the candidate cannot have been out of the country for 28 consecutive days in the last 5 years.
