This is an exciting opportunity to work on a community POCT project for a new Virtual Ward – Hospital at Home service. This is new vacancy at Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust (BHT) in the Point of Care Testing team for a Band 5 Biomedical Scientist. The POCT Team provide essential services for BHT and associated community locations across Buckinghamshire. The POCT service provides a high quality and responsive service which includes supporting POCT devices and training service users. POCT devices include: – blood gas, glucose, ketone, urinalysis, CRP and pregnancy testing. BHT have a new Virtual Ward – Hospital at Home () Service which provides, hospital-level care for acute conditions in the community, that would normally require an acute hospital bed, in a patient’s home for a short episode, through multidisciplinary healthcare teams in the community. is facilitated by an inventory of POCT devices and a store of consumables issued to patients and care teams for short-term or long-term use, using an equipment library model. This post is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with clinical teams, is a charismatic and engaging individual. We are looking for someone who has HCPC registration, previous POCT experience, great communication and presentation skills. Candidates should also have excellent organisational skills, be self-motivated, able to work on own initiative and work effectively as part of a team and perform well under pressure. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to achieving the highest professional standards and have proof of engagement with continuous professional development processes. The postholder would be required to work as a member of the POCT team and work at all BHT hospital sites (Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Wycombe General Hospital and Amersham) and associated community sites. The post holder would mainly be working closely with the clinical teams in the community. The postholder will be responsible for looking after all aspects of POCT in the Virtual Ward – Hospital at Home () environment. The working times would be 37.5 hours from Monday to Friday.
