We are recruiting for a Graduate Documentation Technologist.

The Graduate Documentation Technologist is responsible for reviewing material test data and results, updating material qualification reports and assisting in the maintenance and administration of key-department technical and testing documentation. This role requires very good attention to detail, strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of material properties and testing methodologies. This role would suit someone who is systems-oriented and can identify opportunities for improving efficiency.

Main duties and responsibilities of the jobholder

  • Obtain, Review and Analyse Material Test Data:

    • Evaluate and interpret material test data and results from R&D and live projects to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards and specifications.
    • Identify any inconsistencies or anomalies in test data and recommend corrective actions.

  • Update Material Qualification Reports:

    • Prepare, update and maintain material qualification reports based on the latest test results.
    • Ensure that all reports are accurate, comprehensive, and compliant with relevant standards and regulations.

  • Assist in Authoring and Administration of Technical Documentation:

    • Support with the authoring of technical documentation related to material testing, qualification, technical datasheets and testing work instructions.
    • Responsible for the maintenance and administration of technical documentation.

  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:

    • Work closely with technologists, engineers, quality assurance personnel and other stakeholders to ensure that material reporting processes and documentation meets company, customer and industry requirements.
    • Provide technical documentation support and guidance to other team members as needed.

  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities for improving material and product testing recording systems, procedures and documentation practices.
    • Stay updated on the latest developments in material testing technologies and methodologies.
    • Train other employees on good documentation practices.

Qualifications

  • Required: HNC (SCQF level 7 or above) in a scientific or engineering subject or with demonstrable, relevant, transferrable skills.
  • Desirable: Batchelors or Master’s Degree

Experience

  • Required: Experience of composing and managing technical, scientific or engineering documents.
  • Desirable: Experience of working in, or supporting, a laboratory or having relevant experience working in an ISO 9001 compliant environment.

Skills and training

  • Required: High standard of written English. Eye for detail, ability to suggest and implement continuous improvement projects. Confident MS office user.
  • Desirable: Experience of document control systems. Auditor experience.
