What you’ll be doing

  • Your responsibilities as an Apprentice Electrical Design Engineer will include:
  • Working withhigh and low voltage equipment(400V up to 400kV)
  • Managing power generation, transmission and distribution projects
  • Designing systems and products which may include substation or cabling design
  • Working with renewable energy sources
  • Carrying out feasibility studies for new technical developments
  • Drawing up project plans, making models, prototypes and circuit diagrams
  • Budgeting
  • Estimating timescales
  • Overseeing the work of technicians, designers and CAD
  • Factory Acceptance Testing of designs and systems
  • Making sure projects meet safety regulations
  • Liaising with clients
  • Who we’re looking for
  • 3 Highers/2 A levels & 5 National 5s/GCSEs grades A-C/9-5 or equivalent
  • Ideally have experience in engineering coupled with an interest in the Power industry
  • As well as strong numeracy and well-developed team and people skills, you have the passion and enthusiasm to keep the momentum going on a project
  • A flexible approach to work and able to adapt to change (you may be required to travel as part of the programme)
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK at the time of joining


  • Full UK Driving Licence
