As we develop an enterprise-wide data and digital strategy that moves us toward greater focus on the use of data and strengthen our digital, AI capabilities, we are seeking a Data and ML Engineering Intern. In this role, you will work under guidance of the senior engineers to apply engineering best practice and latest technology to new and already deployed data science applications.

Our tech stack continues to evolve: Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, PowerBI, Collibra, Databricks, MLflow, RStudio, Harness CI/CD, OpenShift, GitHub, JIRA.

As an intern, you will work closely with our experienced data scientists and engineers to develop and maintain of new and existing data and ML applications. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Own your development journey in areas of software, data, and ml engineering. Organisation will provide some guidance, but interns must demonstrate ownership and consistent independent progress to be considered for a full-time role.
  • Collaborate with data science, infrastructure, and operations teams to design, develop, and deploy data and machine learning applications.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues with data and model quality, application performance.
  • Use software engineering principles to abstract repeatable routines to software tools.
  • Maintain best in class documentation on code and tooling.

Training and support will be made available to interns to develop in areas of platform tooling, data engineering, DevOps, machine learning / MLops and AI solution engineering.

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

  • Graduated or part-time enrolled in a degree program in a technical or analytical field, or can demonstrate knowledge / experience in area of computing (e.g. prior work experience or completed a bootcamp course in programming)
  • History of high academic achievement in 80%+ percentile of student population.
  • Confident and articulate communicator and efficient team player
  • Familiar with machine learning at least at a conceptual level.

Desirable, relevant experience:

  • Computer science / software engineering / ML training. Familiarity with SDLC.
  • Prior academic or work experience in any of: data analysis, machine learning, statistics, databases, scripting and programming.
